Cervical Screening And Cancer Awareness Program

Cancer is a very dangerous non-communicable disease. Most of the people of Bangladesh live in fear due to this non-communicable disease. About 12% of women in Bangladesh are affected by uterine cancer and 13% of women are affected by breast cancer. Cervical cancer is more common in women between the ages of 15 and 44. Most of the people of Bangladesh think that it is not possible to eliminate cancer disease 100%. But if there is awareness and timely screening among the people at the initial stage, it is possible to eliminate 100% of uterine and breast cancer. Bangladesh government has taken various steps to increase this awareness. Along with the government of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Ghulam Abu Zakaria founded Alo Bhubon Trust in 2019 with his 50 years of research and experience to prevent cancer. Alo Bhubon Trust works on three pillars – health, education and renewable energy. To keep people free from cancer, Alo Bhubon Trust has organized a cancer awareness and screening program on the occasion of the 78th birthday of Shaheed Arju Moni, wife of Shaheed Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni and birthday of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Councilor Office of Ward No. 3, Mirpur 10 on March 15 and 17, 2024. Mirpur Ward No. 3 Councilor Kazi Zahirul Islam Manik gave full support to complete the said program properly. Besides, prominent Awami League leader of Dhaka 16 Ekhlas Uddin Molla attended and decorated. Dhaka’s Rotary Club of Dhruvatara and Inner Wheel Club Dhaka Northeast also helped.

Dr. Murshid Jahan Binte Ali, Gynecologist BSMMU is helping as a volunteer in the program organized under the slogan “Let’s build a cancer free country through prevention and awareness”. Mitali Khatun is the senior staff nurse. General Secretary of Alo Bhubon Trust was also Professor Dr. Hasin Anupama Azhari Trustee Member Dr. Shahiduzzaman and Dr. Farzana Islam. Anila Majeed from Rotary Club of Dhruvatara was present. And Club President Suchitra Sen Kundu was present from Inner Wheel Club Dhaka Northeast. Bushra Jannat, Shakil Ahmed, Swapnil Biswas, students of Computer Science and Engineering Department of United International University, also helped as volunteers.
