Tropical Medicine Expert Dr. Eduard Evert Zijlstra to Visit Alo Bhubon Trust (Alo-BT)
We are honored to announce that Dr. Eduard Evert Zijlstra, a world-renowned expert in Tropical Medicine will be visiting Bangladesh from April 21 to May 8, 2026. His visit is facilitated through a collaboration with the Dutch organization PUM and Alo Bhubon Trust (ABT).
About the Expert
Dr. Zijlstra is a highly distinguished physician and researcher with an extensive background in global health. His credentials include:
- Current Roles: Director of the Rotterdam Center for Tropical Medicine and Professor of Medicine at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.
- Academic Excellence: He holds an MSc in Clinical Tropical Medicine, a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).
- Global Impact: He has authored over 164 scientific publications and contributed to 120 international conferences, specifically focusing on neglected diseases such as Leishmaniasis and Mycetoma.
- International Advisor: Dr. Zijlstra has served as a temporary advisor and expert for the World Health Organization (WHO) on numerous occasions.
Visit Objectives
During his time in Bangladesh, Dr. Zijlstra will engage in several high-level activities aimed at advancing local medical research and practice:
- Project Discussions: Participating in strategic meetings with researchers to discuss high-level medical projects.
- Seminars: Conducting educational seminars sharing his vast expertise in internal medicine and tropical diseases.
- Field Visit: Visiting the Rahima Baniz Healthcare Centre (RBHC) in Naogaon, a sister concern of Alo Bhubon Trust, to provide clinical insights and guidance.
